So this would be what Honda was working on to beat the Nazare. It’s a hybrid sports car that looks beautifully similar to the CRX. A bit more practical than the Nazare, perhaps. It’s scheduled to hit dealers early 2009 and it’s priced less than the civic hybrid.
Haha! Honda rules.

I’m liking the look of the Mazda Nagare Concept Car. To my eye (and heart) it looks like an update to the Honda CRX. Can’t wait to drive one. Or whatever Honda builds to beat it.

There are three homes in Washington state designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. They are almost never open to the public. One of them, the Ray Brandes House built in Sammammish in 1952, recently went on the market. On contacting the broker and sharing what I knew of Mr. Wright’s work I was invited to attend an open house on the property. I spent an hour on the site studying the home’s construction and design and was allowed to lounge on the very complete collection of Wright-designed furniture, and take seventy-five photographs of the home. I’ve created a gallery to share these photographs with you. I hope you’ll enjoy them, and there are also albums from my 2005 visit to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob homes in Pennsylvania. View the galleries here.

I like Michael Graves. His buildings are well thought out, and lovely. I own a number of his products designed for Target. The desk phone has a beautiful curved handle that’s impossible to hold in the crook of your neck when you’re reaching for something. The water pitcher has an articulating lid with five fragile parts that bust almost immediately, necessitating a repair to fuse them into one piece with SuperGlue. The toaster is pretty, and works fine. The toilet brush is my favorite. We have two of them, and he won an award for its design.
I’m encouraged by the fact that he continues to work with incredible energy and passion after his recent illness.

I went to a car show recently and saw an old hot rod Modified by Chip Foose. His work has a level of visual organization not usually seen in custom car work. He applies the same level of design to the engine compartment and interior as the exterior. And by all accounts his cars perform as well as they look.
